About RV Questions and Answers
Hi, I’m Larry. I’ve been in the RV Business since 1978 and enjoyed our RV’s for many years before that. As of about now we will begin fulltiming in our Diesel Pusher motorhome with our 2 dogs and will continue to work in the industry half the year while we travel for the other half.
My goal here is to share with you some of the knowledge and experience accumulated in the past 30 some years, to answer some of the questions that I am regularily asked, and to share with you links and sites that I believe will help you love your RV experiences. I hope it helps.
I’m looking forward to your comments. Good or Bad, let me have em. Tell me what kind of information would you like to see more of. There’s a comment box just down the page a bit or you can always get me at mrmotorhome@yahoo.com
On our personal web page we often blog about our RV experiences. Come join us at the Amazing Vanstones
Who knows, maybe we’ll meet out on the road someday. I’m looking forward to it.
I would like to get solar panels to charge the battery on my pop-up camper so that I can run the propane heater at my remote hunting site. I have a couple questions.
1) Will a large deep cycle battery last all night just running the heater fan?
2) How large of a solar panel (15w, 30w, etc.) will I need to recharge the battery during the day?
Hi Larry,
We have a choice between a 2001 Fleetwood Discovery 37V and a 2001 Fleetwood Bounder 39Z…all other things being equal – price, condition…which is the better deal?
Thanks,
Sandra
Hi Sandra
I assume they are both Diesel Pushers. They are pretty much the same motor home. Discovery is one up from Bounder in the Fleetwood scheme of things and probably sold for about 10% more when they were new. Basically the same coach with a few more features. The Discovery will probably have a little bigger engine, and a dressed up interior, things like that. Which one do you like the best? If they are both in good shape with similar features and mileage go with what feels best. Either one should work just fine for you.
Whichever one you choose, you will love the lifestyle. Safe Travels, Larry
I was looking at your manufactures list and wondering why you do not list Coachmen?
Maybe because Coachmen is now just a Forest River brand? As I recall when I did up this list they were kind of in limbo.
I have a 1987 24′ Fleetwood Southwind with an Onan Emerald1 Gen. I am about to pull my hair out figuring out how to change such a simple thing as the air filter on the generator. It has the 2 steel walls on both sides, cannot get to the bolts that hold them on, no clearance to get to the bolt that holds the filter cover on, the filter cover would not be able to go forward enough even if i got the bolt off, What a design, What do I do??? thanks
Hi Paul. I’m not a mechanic so I can’t answer that question but I can help. I would go to the Class A forum on RV.Net (www.rv.net/forums) and post your question. You’ll quickly have an answer
Thanks Larry, Paul
